Assoc. Professor Elajsolan Mohan is one of the founder members of the National Association of Private Education Institutions (NAPEI) in 1987 and is currently the President for the fifth term.
In his capacity as the President of NAPEI he sits in various committees in the Ministry of Higher Education and has contributed every year during the Malaysia Budget Consultation forums of the Ministry of Finance and related agencies. He has also attended numerous seminars and conferences both locally and internationally and has presented papers. His most recent conference was in the field of Vocational Educational and training (VET) which was held in Sydney in August 2016 ,, where he was one of the international speakers. He is also a panel member of Universities upgrading committee of the Ministry of Education Malaysia. He is also a certification committee member of SIRIM OAS International, a national quality certification board.
His latest contribution is in the development of the 11th Malaysian Plan (2015-2020) under the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister‘s Department and sits on various technical committees at the Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Human Resources. Also through NAPEI he has successfully organized three International Skills Conferences one each in 2012 and 2013 and 2014 which were co-sponsored by the Victorian Government-Malaysian Office.
He started his teaching career back in 1977 and till today after 40 years is still in the field of education. His academic area is in Engineering Materials and his recent position was as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment at MAHSA University. Prior to this he was the Head of School of Engineering at the Asia Pacific University. He was responsible in setting up the Faculty of Engineering at both these universities. Prior to that he was one of the founders and directors of lnstitut Megatech which was one of the pioneer institutions providing engineering education, since 1987.
He also has a Masters in Educational Management from University of Malaya and is a member of the Technical Association of Malaysia. He is greatly involved in the university quality assurance process, benchmarking with international universities in both academic and VET sectors.
Based on his vast experience in the field of education over the past 40 years, currently he is offering consultancy services in quality assurance areas for colleges and universities as well as technical advisory services in the TVET sector. His expertise also includes advisory services in the establishment of new private educational institutions both locally and internationally and in upgrading of colleges and university colleges locally.
